"Put Out into the Deep" – Trusting God and the Role of the Spiritual Director.

So much of an ever-deepening relationship with God requires trust. As Richard Rohr has said, "Surrender begins with a positive 'yes,' a trust in God and reality."

In spiritual direction both the ,directee and the director are called into "the deep," requiring almost constant surrender and trust on various levels. What is the role of the director in accompanying, as well as facilitating that ongoing choice for greater freedom – assessing, addressing, and encouraging greater, albeit micromovements, of trust in God? Topics will include: assumptions about trust; the many faces and presentations of distrust; recognizing a lack of trust in oneself; and the role of the director in engaging spiritual trust issues.

The day will include both input as well as reflection and conversation among spiritual directors. Lunch is included at 12pm.

Presenter Janet Corso, a past director of Mariandale, is a spiritual director and supervisor of directors, trains spirual directors and supervisors and leads retreat.
